Toronto audiences can enjoy a spectacular multi-arts performance next weekend in the Distillery. The Whole Shebang – one:two:one, presented by Dreamwalker Dance Company in association with Volcano Theatre, opens on November 23 and feature some of the stunning Peggy Baker Dance Projects company dancers.
For one:two:one, company dancer Andrea Nann, the artistic director of Dreamwalker, has curated an exciting and deeply immersive program of movement, sound, spoken text, video, puppet theatre, mirrors, and photography to question the notion of identity. Twinning, mirroring, and unison are the focus of a creative exploration of how one can become two, and two become one.
Also on the bill is company dancer Benjamin Kamino, along with dance artists Kate Holden, Kate Franklin, Lucy Rupert, Pulga Mulchochoma, and Johanna Bergfeldt. Visit the Dreamwalker website for more program details, and check out the production blog for great posts by the artists.
Want to take part? Artist Helen Yung is creating a set of interstitials, including a piece inspired by responses to a very unusual personality quiz. Visit her website to submit your answers (or your doppelganger’s answers!).
The Whole Shebang – one:two:one runs November 23-25 at Dancemakers. Tickets are $25/$20 and available at Eventbrite. Pre-show activities begin half an hour before the performances.
